Time for a Sartorial Update: New Launches in Time for the Lunar New Year

19 Jan, 2021

Time to ring in the Lunar New Year! Major fashion houses are all ushering in their Year of the Ox capsule collections to get us in the spirit from head to toe.

Are you a firm believer that a wardrobe update brings a fresh new beginning and good fortune, or just see that as a grand excuse to get your hands on the latest on the racks?

Ox-picious scene stealers

Bright red palettes are sure to be a common sight during the four-day celebration. But that doesn’t mean you’ll have to blend in when you’re spoiled with endless options to stand out.

BOSS this year extends its CNY capsule collection to womenswear. The wool-blend knitwear  is infused with metallic yarns for a subtle shimmering effect. The reversible jacket  featuring the statement ox-head motif, decorated with a gold-effect zip, is yet another key silhouette from the collection.

If you’re going for more of a casual vibe, dunhill has taken the spring swallows from the House archive, to their sweatshirts  and hoodies. The embroidery motifs stand out against the simple design of the collection and make a low-key nod to the start of spring.

Up your entire outfit a notch, with Loro Piana’s Sciarpa Gr. Unita scarf and Berretto beanie. The cashmere winter accessories are there to keep you comfy and warm all day.

Bag it all

If a complete makeover seems a bit much for this year’s gatherings for you, moo-ving on to accessories is a also a nifty way to update your look in a more subtle manner.

Bally embraces the festive spirit with a playful red ox with golden nose ring that makes its way from the crafted leather envelope keychain to the camera  bag.

If you can get away with mini bags, the limited edition Small Tambour Bag by Celine  is the way to go! The original cylindrical, drum-inspired Tambour, first made its appearance on the runway last year and was an instant star-buy. The shrunk-down iteration has all the iconic features such as the double-C Triomphe logo and snap button closure.

@Celine

FURLA has given its signature creations a Year of the Ox update too and it’s an absolutely cute one. The Metropolis mini crossbody in round and rectangular shapes, as well as the micro crossbody now all come in a cow print with festive red accents. Together with the ox nose closure, the “Super Cow” iterations are made for the playful souls.

@FURLA

The much-loved Le Pliage® Cuir by Longchamp is also given an extra CNY flair, with an adorable, silkscreen-printed bovine munching on a daisy stem that extends to the signature flap. The removable leather shoulder strap also comes with daisy patterns on one side, and a stunning red shade on the other.

@Anteprima

The fun vibe extends also to Anteprima‘s Wirebag. The two newly launched styles are inspired by Holstein cow. The experienced artisans transformed the bag to a vivid cow with popping 3D ears. Either the tote bag and the mini version would make a new addition to your New Year’s outfit.

The auspicious red finishings take over at FENDI, representing strength, determination and ambition in life. Both the signature Flat Baguette  and Drawstring Backpack  are given a deep-red update, with all-over embroidered FF motif.
