Challenging the expectations of what a garment can be, the MM6 Autumn-Winter 2020 Avant-Premiere Collection presents both a physical and virtual wardrobe.
6 selected looks from the Avant-Premiere Collection has been reimagined and recreated on Animal Crossing by illustrator Kara Chung (@animalcrossingfashionarchive). Animal Crossing players are invited to leave a comment at Harbour City Official Instagram account for the outfit codes of the collection.
MM6 Maison Margiela 2020 AW20 AVP collection explores styles of vintage and punk, presenting a playful yet rebellious fashion universe. The riot of dark and neon colour such as purple and dark green; along with the wild prints including leopard and black lace lifted the spirit up.
MM6 continues to design with its playful attitude. In this season, the timeless Trompe l’oeil print is inspired by the archive from its main line which played around with same effect, mimicking the blazer print with black and white lines and shadow to create details and textures on the garments.
“The memory of” is another key design of this season where imagination takes part. The designs are decorated with prints to present the garment details, such as the memory of fringe sprayed on hoodies and jackets, with the real fringe as a final touch on sleeves, dark green velvet top decorated with the memory of jewelry, and the memory of sliver chain sprayed on denim jeans as an unique approach to let the brand’s creativity shine.
The other prints are also brimming with fun concepts and creativity. The neon “Margiela6” logo is inspired by the most iconic “Welcome” neon sign from Maison Margiela headquartering in Paris. Along with the heavy metal inspired “Margiela6” logo and glow-in-the-dark number “6”, these logos are the new classics.
This collection also encompasses accessories with fun identity. New designs are brought to life, including glittered Japanese Bags, padded headbands in gradient colours, half moon shaped waist bags and small rounded pouches.
For the shoes, square ankle boots are reimagined in printed leopard hair calf leather and bold colour blocking. Tin can heels from the last Studio collection are carried forward to this season, along with the classic MM6 Explanation text print emerged on boots. The studio presents a collection that is beyond imagination. Never expect regular when it comes to MM6 Maison Margiela.
