“99UNCLE SELF-PORTRAITS JAN LAMB” Exhibition @Harbour City

06 Jan, 2023

Jan Lamb has been writing and recording 10 new Cantonese songs since 2019 while also directing his own music videos. He holds his “99UNCLE SELF-PORTRAITS JAN LAMB” Exhibition from 6 to 20 January 2023 at Gallery by the Harbour, which displays and exclusively launches 99 uniquely numbered Jan Lamb hand-drawn UNCLE self-portraits album covers that come in ready-to-be-hung wooden frames with his newly released Cantonese album UNCLE2023 laser disc encapsulated within. The exhibition also brings in limited made-in-Japan merchandises at the same time, including vinyls, indigo dyed T-shirts and tote bags. This is a Jan Lamb solo exhibition where you can appreciate his drawings, listen to his music, possess, and collect his artworks and merchandises.

Whether you are an “uncle” or “auntie”, you would know that he is always “On a Clear Day”. Besides hosting radio programs, Jan works part-time as a singer-songwriter and director of his music videos. He also goes on stage for stand-up comedy and takes part in theatrical stage plays and films occasionally. When he comes across good roles, he is an actor, but most of the time he is training for marathons when he is free. Nevertheless, he has never divorced his most-beloved practice of album covers or posters design. For some “self-serving reasons”, Jan holds this solo exhibition to feature 99 uniquely numbered Jan Lamb hand-drawn UNCLE self-portraits album covers which apparently look the same but indeed very different at the same time. Every self-portrait comes with a ready-to-hang wooden frame with his newly released Cantonese album UNCLE2023 laser disc encapsulated within.

Jan Lamb’s Cantonese album UNCLE2023 includes a total of 10 Cantonese songs recorded since 2019. Jan has directed the music videos and written the lyrics entirely by himself. Songs such as “EVERGREEN”, “Egg Tart”, and “AUNTIE” talk about the collective memories and traditional culture of Hong Kong, which resonate with the listeners. At the same time, a limited number of the made-in-Japan uniquely numbered vinyls of Jan Lamb’s new Cantonese album UNCLE2023 are released to satisfy those nostalgic “UNCLE” and “AUNTIE” fans. Made-in-Japan Giemon X 30METHING indigo dyed UNCLE AUNTIE crew neck T-shirts and Kurume Kasuri indigo dyed UNCLE AUNTIE tote bags are also available in the exhibition.

Limited editions of uniquely numbered Jan Lamb Hand-Drawn UNCLE Self-Portrait Album Cover CD with ready-to-be-hung wooden frame accepts pre-order from 6 January 2023 onsite (each person is limited to pre-order 1 pc). Made-in-Japan merchandises are also available for sale on the same day. Jan Lamb will also sign the self-portraits at the Gallery for those 99 lucky collectors and take photos with them on 29 January.
