EMPHASIS Jewellery partners with ANAÏS JOURDEN to debut MMXXI Collection

Given the cyclical nature of fashion, runway shows this year have largely been a nod to Y2K-era style. This style has been adopted by fashion houses around the world, many of which have shown designs featuring striking metallic accents, bright and highly saturated colors, playful silhouettes and futuristic elements. Bringing a contemporary edge to the trend, this month EMPHASIS Jewellery debuts the MMXXI Collection. Designed by renowned Hong Kong designer Anaïs Mak, the creative force behind celebrated fashion house ANAÏS JOURDEN, the collection includes ten 18K yellow gold and white gold chain necklaces, bracelets and earring designs that inject modern design aesthetics into classic lock-ring jewelry, and which reimagine the possibilities of jewelry design.  

The new EMPHASIS x ANAÏS JOURDEN MMXXI Collection continues EMPHASIS Jewelry’s legacy of collaborating with designers to bring unexpected creations to fashion and jewelry lovers. MMXXI, which is the Roman numeral for 2021,symbolizes a new vision for jewelry through its designs that transcend fleeting trends, and has allowed Mak’s unique aesthetic vision to extend to the world of jewelry.

The debut of the MMXXI Collection also coincides with the opening of EMPHASIS Jewelry’s new boutique in Harbour City. A host of Hong Kong’s hottest trendsetters will be in attendance to celebrate the new boutique and unveiling of the new collection, including MC Cheung, ANSONBEAN and Angela Yuen. Designer Anaïs Mak will also be in attendance to share insights into her design inspiration and styling tips.

Mak is one of the most celebrated Hong Kong designers of her generation. A graduate of renowned Paris institute Studio Berçot, Mak is the only Hong Kong fashion designer to show at Paris Fashion Week, an accomplishment she first achieved in 2018. Among her other accolades, Mak was also on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 List in 2017, has been a semi-finalist at the LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize in 2015, and was a winner of Vogue Italia’s Who Is On Next 2015 emerging designer award. Mak’s cutting-edge designs combine traditional contours with modern, artisanal fabrics, and are known for their confident yet feminine feel. She has previously collaborated with brands including Nike, Colette, Barneys New York, and has been supported by a number of international trendsetters including Ariana Grande, Lorde, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Taeyeon, Irene Kim, Hilary Tsui, Shu Qi, Sammi Cheng, and more.  

MMXXI Collection — Reimagining classics with endless possibilities

The MMXXI Collection showcases a range of curb chain-themed jewelry, coupled with barbell detail embellishment, reimagining classic trends with a modern design aesthetic. Each piece features individual jewels gently nailed by hand into curb chains and barbell. The combination of two tones of 18K gold and diamonds create a distinct chain design, resulting in pieces that can easily be interpreted across a range of styles. While tightly linked and solidly constructed, the chain necklaces and bracelets in the collection are very flexible, making for a series of versatile pieces that stand out with any style.
