Since 1951, the Marimekko dress has conveyed a positive and empowering message: be yourself. The quintessential Marimekko dress is strongly present throughout the fall/winter 2021 season with a limited-edition capsule of seven archive-inspired dress designs. In the upcoming campaign, these dresses will be modeled by seven diverse and inspiring personalities, immersed in fascinating landscapes in Finland, Japan and the US, captured by female photographers.

Culminating Marimekko’s 70th anniversary year, the Future Landscapes Collection for fall/winter 2021 reflects one of the Finnish design house’s most prevalent sources of inspiration: nature and its ever-changing landscapes. The season’s minimalistic silhouettes, gentle knits and bold prints are composed of rich blue hues, punchy pinks and deep reds, balanced by delicate, nature-inspired neutrals. Shimmering shades of gold will accent some of the festive season’s key looks.

Coats like warm cocoons

The season’s functional and stylish puffer coats feature the classic Unikko and Kivet prints. The Unikko (poppy) printed coats introduce Marimekko’s contemporary take on the classic quilted style. The main material of these elevated outerwear arrivals is recycled polyester, and their padding is partly made from renewable plant-based raw materials. The coats with the Kivet (stones) print are filled with traceable and responsibly collected down and feather* for lightweight warmth. These coats feature a slightly oversized shape and a detachable hood for a sportier puffer look.

*Marimekko does not accept down from live-plucked or force-fed birds.

Timeless bags, eternal gold

The festive season’s bag arrivals bring joy with a touch of gold. Inspired by a candy wrapper, the beloved Karla bag* in classic black and seasonal bubble gum pink is now introduced with a gold-toned chain strap. The iconic carry-all bag, Matkuri, is here in unbleached cotton canvas printed with stunning golden Unikko (poppy) blossoms – a real showstopper!

*Marimekko only accepts leather from animals that have been bred for meat production.

Future Landscapes – Home Collection

The Future Landscapes Home Collection for winter 2021 reflects one of the Finnish design house’s most prevalent sources of inspiration: nature and its ever-changing landscapes. It’s time to focus on less but better, and get ready for winter’s embrace by bringing the beauty of nature indoors. The color scheme of the collection is composed of grounded neutrals, rich blue hues and vivid reds.

New Oiva tableware and recycled leather home goods

The Oiva (superb) tableware series now presents a special new glaze characterized by beautiful earthiness – the perfect complement for the season’s patterned Oiva pieces. This season also introduces new, minimalistic leather goods made from recycled leather: The material in the Vuolu and Liuske cosmetic bags is composed of ground leather cutting waste from factories that has been bound together with a mix of natural rubber and synthetic material.

The season’s leather set is completed with the Unikko leather slippers, made with vegetable tanned leather.
