20 Jun, 2023

“MILK X” is a Hong Kong publication that loves magazine culture.  One of its columns is WE LOVE MAGAZINE which talks about many foreign magazines the publication admires to broaden the readers’ horizons.

To showcase the passions to print publications, Harbour City collaborates with MILK X to discover and present a few selected fashion magazines from around the world through the eyes of MILK X editors. Here we share THE MAGAZINES WE BOTH LOVE with everyone and pay tribute to them.

The MILK X team supports high-quality fashion magazines through photography and fashion, combining images and fashion to interpret the style and beauty of each magazine. The team gathered different fashion styles in Harbour City and created a variety of stunning looks given its diverse range of fashion brands.

WE LOVE POP

Back to the eye of the Y2K storm – 2000, the trends that swept the fashion world emerged at the beginning of the millennium.  The British fashion magazine “POP” was also founded that year by fashion editors ASHKEY HEALTH and KATIE GRAND. KATIE’s concept at the time was very simple: “Fun and pink.” With two issues per year and hundreds of pages of full-color content, the magazine not only broke the rules of fashion photography but also explored art, music, and articles on contemporary creativity and culture. After more than 20 years, “POP” continues to maintain a rebellious attitude with its eye-catching style.

Using “POP” fashion magazine as the first theme of this collaboration, the styling direction follows the magazine’s colorful style and unconventional attitude, emphasizing color and pattern, mixing and matching a few youthful and vibrant looks:

Look 1: Pairing the popular DIESEL D logo hollow tube top with BA&SH denim overalls, seemingly unrelated but cleverly matched. The hot pink on the upper body is perfectly paired with the light pink metallic 1DR shoulder bag from DIESEL and the pink CAMPER avant-garde sandals, revealing the trendy pink personality.

Look 2: The second look calls for summer – a tee with the sun print layered with an orange blazer and the colorful shorts full of summer passion; the look is completed by a pair of orange plaid VANS, creating a sunny and happy vibe. Pattern on pattern is not easy to master as it can easily become overwhelming and lose focus.
