SEIKO’s 145th Anniversary: Limited-Edition Timepieces

24 Mar, 2026

The story began in 1881 when founder Kintaro Hattori opened a clock shop in Tokyo’s Ginza district. Since then, SEIKO has been defined by an unwavering pursuit of horological excellence. The establishment of the “Seikosha” factory in 1892 and the subsequent launch of the brand’s inaugural pocket watch laid the cornerstone for Japan’s watchmaking industry.

To commemorate its 145th anniversary, SEIKO continues to uphold Kintaro’s spirit of innovation with the release of a limited-edition model across the King Seiko, Prospex, Presage, and Astron collections. Each timepiece features sophisticated gold accents, expressing Kintaro Hattori’s founding spirit while reaffirming the brand’s enduring commitment to enriching lives with joy and beauty.

King Seiko – KS1969 (Limited edition of 800)

The design of this limited King Seiko edition draws deep inspiration from Kintaro’s renowned horological engraving craftsmanship, paired with a center-to-outer, layered gray graduation that beautifully elevates the lustre of its gold hands, indexes and letters. The watch is fitted with a multi-row bracelet that combines mirror polishing and brushed finishing, complementing a slim and classic “turtle” case design with low centre of gravity. Powered by the slimline Caliber 6L35, it delivers an elegant, streamlined silhouette while ensuring a lasting, comfortable wearing experience.

Presage – “Craftsmanship” Enamel Dial (Limited edition of 1,450)

Inspired by the “Timekeeper” pocket watch introduced in 1895, this Presage limited edition thoughtfully incorporates the original’s refined elegance — featuring an onion crown and a bezel adorned with intricate and dimensional detailing, echoing the silhouette of the historical timepiece. To preserve the classic character, the watch is presented with a smooth white enamel dial and slender Roman numerals, evoking old-world charm while ensuring excellent legibility. An artfully vintage, box-shaped glass adds further depth to the overall composition. In terms of performance, the watch is equipped with the automatic Caliber 6R51, delivering up to three full days of power reserve — an ideal balance of masterful craft and modern practicality.

Astron – GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph (Limited edition of 1,450)

Since the debut of the world’s first quartz watch in 1969, the Astron collection has remained a symbol of SEIKO’s spirit of innovation. From democratizing precision timekeeping by opening its patent to the world to launching the first GPS Solar watch in 2012, Astron has consistently led the industry. The new GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph integrates gold-coloured accents across the dial, case, and bracelet, further enhanced by a gold-coloured sapphire crystal bezel for a multi-dimensional aesthetic. Notably, the markings of 1, 4, and 5 on the UTC scale are highlighted in gold as a subtle yet sophisticated tribute to the 145th anniversary. Powered by the Caliber 5X83, the watch automatically connects with the GPS network up to twice a day, ensuring absolute precision for the global traveler.

Each anniversary creation is marked on its back to denote its status as a limited edition, making it a rare yet meaningful collector’s piece. You are cordially invited to visit Elegant Watch & Jewelry in Harbour City to experience these commemorative masterpieces firsthand.
