Rising star of the local art scene and former pop idol Aka C. today opens her fourth solo exhibition, “Fluttering Wishes”, at Gallery by the Harbour, running until 22 March 2026. The exhibition continues the artist’s signature style of intricate pen-and-ink drawings in black, white and gold, using delicate lines and luminous contrasts to construct a series of visually poetic and narrative-rich scenes—offering a sanctuary for the soul amidst the city’s relentless pace.
This exhibition marks a significant milestone in Aka C.’s artistic journey. From her days in the spotlight as a performer to her contemplative presence before the canvas, she has channeled her innermost emotions and keen observations of the world into works that resonate deeply with the viewer. “Fluttering Wishes” is not only a retrospective of her thirteen-year creative path but also a point of departure for new artistic explorations yet to come.

Joyful Blessings Amidst Shimmering Light and Shadow: Healing the Soul Through Art
The exhibition title “Fluttering Wishes” evokes the notion of “joyful blessings amidst shimmering light and shadow”—much like sunlight filtering through leaves, where fleeting, dancing moments leave behind an enduring warmth. This poetic naming stems from the artist’s sensitivity to life’s small yet certain joys: the dappled light cast on the ground on a quiet afternoon. These ephemeral instants of light and shadow, in Aka C.’s eyes, hold within them a timeless power to heal.
In an era of turbulence, Aka C. believes deeply that every soul needs a space to rest its emotions. Through her distinctive pen-and-ink technique in black, white, and gold, she renders creatures that weave together reality and imagination, incorporating symbols of fortune from around the world—transforming each element into imagery imbued with blessings and quiet wishes. This is not merely the artist’s personal pursuit of happiness, but a sincere invitation to become a gentle, accompanying presence for those who pause before her work.
As Aka C. reflects in her artist statement: “While darkness may fall across our path, the light never truly disappears”. Each piece is a testament to this belief—within the depths of black and white lines, a glimmer of gold quietly flickers, reminding us that no matter where we find ourselves, warmth and hope remain.

Curator Rikko Lee Orchestrates Aka C.’s Creative Breakthrough: New Mediums Unveiled for the First Time
The exhibition is curated by local interdisciplinary art practitioner Rikko Lee. Having collaborated closely with Aka C. for years, Rikko has not only curated multiple solo exhibitions and brand collaboration projects but has also witnessed and participated in pivotal moments throughout the artist’s creative journey.
In this partnership, the exhibition presents not only Aka C.’s signature pen-on-paper works but also debuts an entirely new series created on different canvases and with various painting materials. This collection showcases the artist’s courage in pushing creative boundaries, exploring the expressive potential of her pen strokes across diverse mediums.
Through variations in line density, stroke weight, and the interplay of light and shadow, these works transcend mere visual presentation—they invite viewers to engage in an inner dialogue as they immerse themselves in the art.

Limited Edition Art Prints: Lucky Cat Zodiac Series Debuts Exclusively During Exhibition
Aka C. has created twelve mini artworks featuring an enchanting fusion of the beloved lucky cat with the twelve Chinese zodiac animals. This special series was born from the artist’s desire to create works that both convey blessings and bring joy to viewers. By combining the fortune-bringing symbolism of the lucky cat with traditional Chinese zodiac culture, she has crafted twelve whimsical compositions—a tiger sitting atop a lucky cat waving its paw, tiny sheep and goats nestled within a lucky cat’s bell, a playful monkey clutching both a lucky cat and a good luck charm. Each piece showcases the artist’s characteristically delicate and expressive touch.
Beyond their presentation as artworks in the exhibition, these twelve pieces are also available as limited edition art prints, offering collectors an artful choice that blends blessing symbolism with playful aesthetics. Each print is accompanied by the artist’s signature and is available exclusively during the exhibition period—poised to become a highly sought-after treasure for art collectors and fans alike.

Crossover Collaboration with Premium Lighting Brand KOFFA Presents Art Installation “Also Known As”
Another highlight of the exhibition is the collaboration between Aka C. and renowned premium lighting brand KOFFA. In addition to launching two co-branded desk lamps personally designed by Aka C. (priced from HKD 1,980 to HKD 3,380), the partnership debuts a large-scale lighting art installation that merges artistic vision with craftsmanship aesthetics — titled “Also Known As”.

Measuring nearly one meter in width and approximately half a meter in height, this art installation is constructed from 13 meticulously designed pen nibs, symbolizing Aka C.’s thirteen-year journey of artistic dedication. The artist has taken her most familiar creative tool—the pen—and enlarged, deconstructed, and reassembled it into the core element of this three-dimensional installation, extending her two-dimensional lines into an interplay of light and shadow within space. This marks Aka C.’s first foray into lighting design.
May you, in this acronym of AKA —”Also Known As”—lighting atmosphere,
See and realize the possibilities which has not yet been discovered within yourself,
And embrace each “also known as”.
Hold close to every title of your being, gracefully,
Savoring every moment as the world unfolds.
This passage, penned by the artist herself, articulates the creative philosophy behind Also Known As. “AKA” serves both as an abbreviation of Aka C.’s name and a reference to the phrase “Also Known As”. This wordplay embodies the artist’s exploration of self-identity—from her days as a singing and dancing idol on stage, to her role as a creator before the canvas, and now to her position as cross-disciplinary designer. Each identity represents a facet of who she is, yet none alone can fully define her.
Through the interplay of light and shadow cast by its thirteen pen nibs, the installation invites viewers to reflect: Beyond the labels others place upon us, what undiscovered names do we carry? And how might we embrace every dimension of our own identity?
