DE BEERS JEWELLERS Celebrates New Enchanted Lotus Designs With Paper Art Installation In Hong Kong

To celebrate its iconic motif, Enchanted Lotus, with a series of new colours and playful modern Fine Jewellery designs, De Beers Jewellers unveils an exclusive art installation in its Hong Kong boutiques, featuring paper sculptures in the form of lotus flowers, monarch butterflies and other flora and fauna of Southern Africa, to celebrate the wonders of life and Okavango Delta’s remarkable landscapes.

A maze of waterways, floodplains and islands, set among verdant vegetation in north-west Botswana, a country De Beers has a deep connection with by being one of its diamond origins, the Okavango Delta is an oasis attracting one of Africa’s greatest concentrations of wildlife. The Enchanted Lotus collection honours the lotus flowers found in abundance in this magical oasis and celebrates the conservation successes achieved through Okavango Eternal, a strategic partnership between De Beers and National Geographic to address one of Africa’s most critical conservation challenges: protecting the source waters of the Okavango Delta.

This poetic paper artwork is ingenious and visually striking – overlapping layers of openwork paper sculptures resemble vibrant lotus flowers with morning dew, and monarch butterflies fluttering in with free-spirited playfulness. Ethereal and vivid, they are a tribute to life and freedom, and reflect the natural beauty of African wilderness; they also represent the inspirations behind De Beers’ iconic jewellery collections.

Exquisitely crafted by hand, the paper artwork is made of recycled paper and natural dyes from plants to protect the natural environment – this is in perfect harmony with De Beers’ Building Forever, which is our blueprint for creating a positive and sustainable impact for people and the planet.

The Enchanted Lotus design is inspired by the lotus flower, which blooms in sunlight, retreats into water at night and re-emerges every morning. Like the lotus flower, the Enchanted Lotus collection is a celebration of the eternal, with the splendour of the distinctive motif illuminated in elegant designs adorned with natural diamonds, themselves a time-honoured symbol of eternity.
