BOSS is teaming up with iconic American brand Russell Athletic to create a capsule collection of bold casualwear for a new generation. Inspired by both brands’ archives, the designs will unite expert BOSS tailoring and Russell Athletic’s instantly recognizable sportswear aesthetic in a unique style.
Colors, prints and construction techniques are drawn from the archives and combined to create something new. Signature jersey pieces blend logos from both brands, while knitwear, jackets, shorts and pants mix sporty and tailored elements in one look.
Compare the structured cut of the tapered pants with the relaxed-fit sweatpants, each offering a look that balances the refined and the relaxed. Even elements that would traditionally be considered more formal, such as blazers and shirts, have loose, 90s-style cuts that feel relaxed and look relevant today.
A wide diagonal stripe runs throughout tops and outerwear in the collection, recalling vintage styling but with a bold new direction. Classic side stripes on trousers and tracksuits pick up the detail, which also appears in the form of contrast bands down the sides of shorts.
A complementary color scheme allows pieces to be mixed and matched with each other and with existing wardrobe essentials. The fits of many designs offer unisex styling, and are designed to be worn creatively.
The BOSS x Russell Athletic capsule, which includes several items designed to be worn by both men and women, has launched with a campaign produced by publisher and creative agency Highsnobiety.
