Clan & Co. Lounge: A Tribute to Hong Kong’s Golden Age

Perched within the Michelin-starred French restaurant ÉPURE in Harbour City, Clan & Co. Lounge debuted in early 2026 as the sophisticated evolution of the brand’s vision. The interior design embeds historical depth within a modern minimalist framework. The bar’s centerpiece is a hand-painted sign designed by local artist Jim Lee, blending Eastern and Western visual aesthetics. Inside the lounge, precious antique gold-lacquered “Dragon and Phoenix” wood carvings—handcrafted by a Hong Kong master carver—reconstruct the artisanal tension of a bygone era. Against the backdrop of the Victoria Harbour sunset, the golden glow intertwines with the herbal spirits in your glass to create a sensory experience unique to this location.

Clan & Company, a local heritage brand centered on the philosophy of the “Five Flavours,” has officially made its debut. Far more than a mere bar brand, Clan & Co. is a platform driven by the concept of “Reimagining heritage, forging the new.” Managed by the local oriental botanical liqueur brand Magnolia Lab, Clan & Co. collaborates with artists, craftsmen, and brands from various fields to transform fading urban memories into tangible, tasteful, and immersive experiences. It aims to ensure that cultural heritage is no longer just a collection of stories from the past, but a sustainable legacy passed down to the next generation.

The lounge’s cocktail menu is themed around the “Golden Age,” looking back at the legendary era of the 1980s when Hong Kong’s economy took flight and the city was bathed in glitz and glamour. The menu is divided into three major series.

The Golden Era: A journey back to the glamour of 1980s Hong Kong – a legendary era of soaring dreams and neon-lit grandeur. Through the lens of modern mixology, we capture the era’s bold spirit and decadent charm, reshaping the golden age into a sensory liquid experience.

  • The Golden Broth: This cocktail pays homage to the legendary indulgence of Hong Kong’s Gilded Age. A rich consommé melds with the herbal depth of Magnolia Lab Magnolia, topped with an innovative “rice milk cap” and vegetarian “shark fin”—a liquid tribute to an era of opulence.

 

Oriental Herbal Cocktails: This series draws inspiration from diverse Asian culinary traditions, rooted in the ancient wisdom of “food as medicine.” It reinterprets the essence of botanicals with Hong Kong’s “Magnolia Lab” liqueurs, offering a nuanced sensory journey through oriental flavours.

  • Bak Kut Teh: This cocktail distils the essence of Southeast Asian Bak Kut Teh. The richness of Yuk Ping Shu rice liquor meets the tart-herbal notes of Magnolia Lab Roselle, bridging warm spices and herbal warmth for a deeply comforting sip.
  • Samgye-tang: Inspired by the Korean Samgye-tang, this cocktail weaves in Chinese medicinal culinary wisdom into creation. Built upon a savoury chicken broth base, red ginseng draws out the complex aroma of Magnolia Lab Magnolia with red dates and goji berries, while glutinous rice wine adds depth, resulting in a modern, layered drink.
  • Yellowcress Tonic: A tribute to Hong Kong’s street-side pharmacy herbal drinks. It opens with the clear sweetness of Indian yellowcress and carrot, while the aged tangerine peel in Magnolia Lab Magnolia blends with apricot kernels and monk fruit for a rounded, herbal finish.

 

Hong Kong Preserved Snack Cocktails: This series rediscovers the lasting imprint of Hong Kong’s classic preserved snacks. Reinterpreted with modern techniques and Magnolia Lab liqueurs, they are transformed into three refreshing contemporary renditions that evoke collective memory.

  • Nine-Fold Tangerine Peels: Inspired by the intricate craft behind the classic Hong Kong preserved citrus, this cocktail unfolds like a citrus odyssey, culminating in the enduring sweetness of aged peel and a lingering herbal finish, cradled by rum and Magnolia Lab Magnolia.
  • The Immortal Peach: This cocktail draws its inspiration from the nostalgic preserved snack “The Immortal Peach,” which itself originates from the myth of the Queen Mother’s Peach Banquet. Reimagining the classic Bellini, the tart-herbal essence of Magnolia Lab Roselle elevates the stone-fruit sweetness of peach, crowned with prosecco for an ethereal creation.
  • Aeroplane Olive: Inspired by the mid-century Hong Kong snack “Aeroplane Olive,” famously tossed upstairs to customers in a unique vending ritual.  The spices of liquorice, aged tangerine peel, clove, and cinnamon are rewoven through Magnolia Lab Magnolia and gin, lifted with soda for a refreshingly crisp Gin Fizz twist with lasting sweetness.
