Y-3 launches Footwear Pack – Superstar, Marathon, TRHicho, Gazelle

adidas and Yohji Yamamoto. Past and future. Innovation and Heritage. The Y-3 Footwear Pack is a bold collision of ideas and juxtapositions. Shot by Aidan Zamiri, the campaign innovates upon nostalgic tropes in product photography. Inspired by the Japanese technique of Sashiko stitching, the Superstar, Gazelle, Hicho, and Marathon TR are all reimagined with loose threads hanging with poise and purpose.

Y-3’s take on the adidas Superstar shoes, inspiredby traditional Sashiko stitching.Fabricated in premium leather and suede materials,the trainers have accentuated and tonal stitching around the eyestay, heel tab, midsole and the signature 3-Stripes, with all threads intentionally hanging loosely. The classic rubber shell toe stands out even more with thick embroidery where the original lines usually are.

Y-3 Marathon Trail take the classic adidas Marathon shoes and rework them through the lens of Y-3. In a nod to the Japanese technique of Sashiko stitching, the trainers have accentuated and tonal stitching around the eyestay, heel tab, midsole and the signature 3-Stripes, with all threads intentionally hanging loosely.

They’re wrapped in suede and have foxing tape around the entire outsole, which slightly curves on the lateral side for a subtle, yet distinctive look.

Y-3 Hicho Shoes take the classic adidas Campus shoes and rework them through a Y-3 lens. The premium nubuck upper rides on a thick platform, adding height and creating a subtle statement. In a nod to the Japanese technique of Sashiko stitching, the trainers have accentuated, tonal stitching around the eyestay, heel tab, midsole and the signature 3-Stripes, with all threads intentionally hanging loosely.
